Tips
How to get the most out of your storage unit
Before moving anything into your unit, make a plan for loading the unit:
- Large items first
- Frequently used items last
- Create an aisle to be able to get to the back of the unit
Protect your storage items:
- A water/dust resistant cover over your goods is a good idea
- Do not store perishable goods, food, pet food etc.
- Bring a secure lock and give one key to your storage manager and keep one for yourself
- Put a skid or boards onto the floor of the unit to insure free air movement under and around your goods
- Do not lean furniture against outside walls
- Clearly mark boxes with breakable items or sensitive items
Maximize the use of your space:
- Fill anything that is hollow (wardrobes, drawers)
- Stack boxes and similar sized items together
Store Smart and Safe:
- Although Self Storage Collingwood has outdoor lights, plan your move in for daylight hours
- Never store fuel or solvents that might cause odours or be flammable. This includes propane, camping fuel, etc.
- Do not leave your storage unit unlocked at any time.
